The second exhibition at the British Library looks at the development of photography from the very first images made by Fox Talbt and Deguerre. Both were fascinating and well worth the trip (despite huge delays on the return journey due to an accident).

Two Photographic Exhibitions in London
Thursday is usually a university day for me, but this Thursday a trip to London to see two major exhibitions was organised. 'Beetles to Bowie' at the National Portrait Gallery is a fascinating journey through the celebrity photography of the 60s and includes 'iconic' images of the by David Bailey and Cecil Beaton.

Dover Youth Theatre production of 'Our Town
Once again Dover Youth Theatre have put together a superb drama. Telling the story of the residents of a small American town through phases of life and death, the production opened tonight and has a further performance tomorrow evening. Congratulations to the cast. I was pleased to take some publicity photos for Marie Kelly Thomas. No flash allowed - a better lens with a wider apperture would have given more scope.

Sabrage begins at Rye Lodge Hotel
Last night saw the inauguration of Rye Lodge Hotel as a Caveaux de Sabrage du Sabre d'Or - the first venue in Rye where champagne bottles are ceremonially decapitated in a tradition dating back to Napoleonic times.
A wonderful evening was had by friends of the de Courcy family and invited guests, with a number of the guests able to open a bottle of champagne with a sword themselves.
Of course such a great occasion required a photographer – and I was pleased to oblige!
