Last night saw the inauguration of Rye Lodge Hotel as a Caveaux de Sabrage du Sabre d'Or - the first venue in Rye where champagne bottles are ceremonially decapitated in a tradition dating back to Napoleonic times.
A wonderful evening was had by friends of the de Courcy family and invited guests, with a number of the guests able to open a bottle of champagne with a sword themselves.
Of course such a great occasion required a photographer – and I was pleased to oblige!
